1. Word Order — the shape of an English sentence

Порядок слов

Russian and Kazakh let you move words around because endings show who does what. English mostly doesn't have those endings — so word order carries the meaning.

  • Subject + Verb + Object — always in that order.
I eat an apple. (not Apple eat I, not Eat I apple)
  • Time / place usually go at the end:
I eat an apple every morning in the kitchen.
  • Adjectives go before the noun:
a red car (not a car red)

Cheat: if a sentence sounds strange, check the order first — SVO, always SVO.
